Abstract
This study explores the complex interplay between globalization and democracy within the context of Nigeria's political landscape from 1999 to 2007. Against the backdrop of a post-military rule era, this period marked a significant transition for Nigeria as it embraced democratic governance. The research adopts a comprehensive approach, examining how globalization influenced democratic institutions, electoral processes, and civic participation. It scrutinizes the challenges and opportunities that emerged as Nigeria engaged with the global community, assessing the extent to which external forces shaped the country's democratic trajectory. Special attention is given to the role of international organizations, economic forces, and technological advancements in influencing political developments. Drawing upon a range of primary and secondary sources, the research employs a multidisciplinary framework by analyzing the Nigerian experience, thus contributing to the broader discourse on the relationship between globalization and democracy in the African context that shaped Nigeria's democratic experiment during the critical period of 1999-2007.
